Cardi B unleashes sharp attacks on new track “Magnet”

Cardi B held nothing back when it came to addressing her rivals on AM I THE DRAMA? On Magnet, she goes straight for JT of City Girls, delivering an unrelenting barrage in the track’s second verse. The bars come sharp and venomous, with Cardi showing no hesitation in being downright disrespectful.

"You a shady-as btch, you've been trash since birth / Mama didn't want you, Brenda's baby-as btch (Brenda)." For those unfamiliar, the “Brenda’s baby” reference hits especially hard.

Tupac’s Brenda’s Got a Baby tells the story of a 12-year-old girl who became pregnant by her cousin and abandoned her newborn in a dumpster after reading about the case in the news. Bringing that into the context of this diss makes it especially cutting.

Cardi doesn’t stop there, either. Soon after, she raps: "She just mad she got a n**** she be sharin' bags with (Shh) / My n**** cheat, but I don't stick no dldos in his as, b*tch (Haha)." The line points directly at JT, whose relationship with Lil Uzi Vert has often been a subject of speculation around his sexuality.

The Bronx star made it clear she was playing rough here, without apology. At the same time, Ice Spice may have caught some indirect fire in the first verse. On her track BB Belt, Ice rapped, "Fallin' behind like, b*tch, pick up your pace / It was funny ‘til I took her place," which Cardi took as a jab.

Cardi strongly hinted last summer that she planned to respond to that subliminal, promising she would get her “lick back” on this album. With Magnet, she followed through.
