The bodies of Colombian singer B King and DJ Regio Clown were confirmed on Monday in the municipality of Cocotitlán in Mexico state.
The two had been reported missing in Mexico a week earlier.
Their remains, which were reportedly bound and wrapped in black plastic bags, were discovered on 17 September, one day after they disappeared, but official identification did not take place until Monday.
Relatives of B King, whose real name is Bayron Sánchez, travelled to Mexico to verify the identification.
The disappearance of the two artists resonated strongly across Latin America, leading Colombian President Gustavo Petro to seek diplomatic help from Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum in the search.
Following confirmation of B King’s death, Petro responded with a sharp message.
"They murdered our youth. More young people murdered by an anti-drug policy that isn't an anti-drug-trafficker policy," he wrote on X.
B King was a 31-year-old reggaeton and corrido performer originally from Santander, Colombia. His DJ, 35-year-old Jorge Luis Herrera, known professionally as Regio Clown, was with him when they went missing. The two were reportedly heading to a gym in Mexico City’s upscale Polanco district at the time.
Local reports stated that the pair had recently taken part in the Sin Censura Independence Day celebration on 14 September at Electro Lab, an electronic music venue in Mexico City.
