"I want to introduce you to a young woman who sings beautifully — the daughter of a dear friend who is close to my heart and soul," Trevi said.
On Saturday night (June 20), an emotional moment unfolded during Gloria Trevi’s concert at the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City, when she invited Jacqie Rivera onstage to perform “Un Abrazo” together.
“I want to introduce you to a young woman who sings beautifully — the daughter of a dear friend who is close to my heart and soul,” Trevi told the crowd, appearing visibly emotional.
The track, taken from Trevi’s 2025 album El Vuelo, is a deeply emotional ballad about longing for someone who is no longer present, reflecting on grief and the desire for one more embrace. The song carries added emotional weight given that Jenni Rivera, Jacqie’s mother, died in a plane crash in 2012 at the age of 43.
Performing alongside the full band, both singers alternated verses, eventually breaking down in tears as the audience reacted with applause and emotion. In the chorus, their voices joined on lyrics about a symbolic embrace that transcends loss: “A hug that erases death/ Or that gives you my life and changes our fates/ A hug that moves the heavens/ And brings about a miracle, and suddenly you return.”
After the duet, Trevi asked the band to repeat the song so Jacqie could perform it solo. “Now I want you to hear just her,” she said, before inviting Chiquis and Jenicka Rivera — Jacqie’s sisters and daughters of the late “Diva de la Banda” — to join her onstage. Photos of Jenni Rivera were displayed on the screen behind them, adding to the emotional atmosphere.
“Thank you so much for allowing me to be on this stage,” Jacqie said afterward. “I felt my mother’s presence. You really do need her, no matter how old you are. And to the audience, thank you for keeping our mother’s memory alive.”
Moments later backstage, Jacqie shared that the collaboration came together unexpectedly after she initially reached out to Trevi on Instagram about a possible cover or collaboration for her upcoming album. Her team and Trevi’s management later coordinated the surprise performance.
She also noted plans to honour her mother’s legacy, including a travelling merchandise pop-up dedicated to Jenni Rivera that will visit multiple cities.
The night continued as Trevi moved through her Celebration Tour 2026, performing hits including “Zapatos Viejos,” “Con Los Ojos Cerrados,” “Cinco Minutos,” “El Recuento de los Daños,” and “Dr. Psiquiatra.”
