Becktoria Fuses Classical, Pop and EDM Influences On Latest Single I Like It Like That

Raised on classical and pop music, LA-based singer/songwriter Becktoria takes her music to a multi-genre level. Born in Burma and raised in England, Becktoria had grown up singing in the choir while listening to 1990s pop. Influenced by singers such as Mariah Carey and Britney Spears, she found her pop voice after being in a high school band called Jig.

After moving to Los Angeles, Becktoria was exposed to the American EDM scene. From there, the singer has made a life for herself in the entertainment industry, with 38 film credits and songs under her belt, and more than a million streams on her Soundcloud account, producing both original music as well as well-listened remixes of modern pop artists such as Adele, Taylor Swift, and Selena Gomez. Her latest EP, Goodbye & Hello, reflects her musical experiences, and tells a relative story about heartbreak and growth. “(Goodbye & Hello) has two different meanings, one is about letting go of your past relationship and welcoming the new one and the other meaning is saying goodbye to the old you and hello to the new me, because I've gone through this spiritual awakening and growth and change over time.”

Becktoria says the songs are placed chronologically on the EP that plays out like an audio autobiography of the singer’s romantic life. Goodbye & Hello’s lead single “I Like it Like That” has a radio pop aesthetic, with upbeat instrumentals and beat drops suitable for the modern club scene, where Becktoria sings about meeting someone on the dance floor and the thrills of first falling in love. “It falls into the transitional period of the honeymoon phase to falling in love,” she says. “It’s about feeling that rush when you first fall in love and that lust and infatuation over someone.”

Since its release, Goodbye & Hello has reached the Billboard Top 40 Indicator Chart as well as received radio play.  “I’ve changed in terms of the type of songs I do,” she says. “I think it’s easier for people to understand and that’s why people can relate to it more.” And while her previous releases leaned towards more fantasy concepts, Becktoria’s take on real-life experiences with straightforward lyrics bring her a relative audience.
