Australian teenager Sienna-Rose Jerak has many talents, but music is her focus

Multitalented teenage artist Sienna-Rose Jerak may be just fourteen years old, but she’s been honing her craft for years already. Now the Australia native, who splits time between Melbourne and Los Angeles, is ready to show the world what she’s been up to.

Jerak debuted her first two singles in April, “You Got Me” and “To Fly,” and is already racking up thousands of plays with her unique take on late 90’s and early 2000’s pop and R&B music. She counts artists and groups like Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson and BackStreet Boys as influences.

“In the 90’s there were a lot of sultry songs,” Jerak says. “The lyrics were amazing. Everything was so real about it and I just feel it was a better time. I love that whole era, so I try to incorporate that in my songs.”

“My angle is just to inspire everyone and say that everyone has a purpose and talent,” she says. “I want people to go for their goals and believe in themselves. I’m all about just belief and inspiring people.”

Jerak can play piano, act and dance, in addition to her singing ability––she’s a soprano, and “I think I’ve got a sweet voice,” she says. From the age of eight she studied drama, dance, singing and musical theater in Australia, and then continued her training at Margie Haber Studio in Los Angeles for the last two years. She’s already got two acting agents––one for Australia, one for the U.S.––and played the role of Sophie in The Very Excellent Mr. Dundee (2020), in addition to being cast as leads in several television commercials. She also appeared in international print campaigns for Champion.

It’s music and writing, though, that offers her the best chance to express herself. She’s working with award-winning producers Jordan Omley and Michael Mani, and recorded the two debut singles back in February in Los Angeles.

Jerak says “You Got Me” was the first one she worked on, and “it’s very good for when someone has a crush or a girlfriend or boyfriend. I love the lyrics in it.”

And “To Fly” was inspired by being surrounded by social media her entire life.

“It’s basically about just wanting to be free and be kids,” she says. “Sometimes on social media we can be criticized, trolled and just bullied online. Sometimes we just want to be kids and not be as visible because we’re always visible online.”

Jerak plans to return to the U.S. this year to record two more tracks. Her big goal, however, is to get a record label.
