Joe Tacopina addressed an alleged leaked medical report suggesting Wendy Williams’ dementia diagnosis is genuine.
Wendy Williams has been embroiled in a guardianship dispute for several years, and her attorney, Joe Tacopina, continues to advocate fiercely for her independence. In a recent conversation on NewsNation that was later uploaded to Facebook, he addressed speculation surrounding alleged medical records that supposedly confirm a dementia diagnosis.
Before addressing those rumors, Tacopina first provided an update on Wendyis condition. He complimented her overall health and stressed that her mind is still strong. He also acknowledged her past battles with alcohol and highlighted how she has managed to push forward despite that struggle and the strict limits imposed by her guardianship.
"She just wants her life back," Tacopina said about Wendy Williams. "The basic human rights are stripped from her. [...] She has fewer rights – fewer rights, I tell you – than a convicted felon under probation. And that, to me, is the scariest part of this whole thing. It really, really is."
The lawyer also dismissed the so-called medical documents, stating they are fake and cannot be verified. Tacopina claimed the release of this information was “illegal” and intended to benefit from her guardianship financially. He even questioned whether the records exist at all, pointed to possible HIPAA violations, and said that Wendy has not completed the necessary medical evaluations. Because of this, he wants the doctor connected to these papers to testify under oath.
Toward the end of the interview, Tacopina suggested that Wendy’s guardian may be the one responsible for the leak. "It is not Wendy doing it, right?" he commented. "Of course it is, Sabrina Morrissey, of course it is the guardian. Who else would leak a finding that supports her position?"
This fight is far from over, even though Wendy Williams has recently regained a small degree of freedom. These little steps forward do not settle the bigger questions fans and both sides of the case continue to raise.
It remains to be seen whether her guardian will respond to these accusations or if this dispute will ultimately be resolved in the courtroom. For now, the legal process looks tough. Still, what most supporters continue to worry about is how all of this ultimately affects her overall health and quality of life.
