Trina and Trick Daddy receive honorary doctorates recognizing their impact

Trick Daddy and Trina were recognized in Miami with awards from Leaders Esteem Christian Bible University.

Trina and Trick Daddy remain two of the most influential names in Miami hip-hop, and their close bond just earned another special recognition. The pair were recently awarded honorary doctorate degrees from Leaders Esteem Christian Bible University, also known as Leaders Esteem Seminary, during a Sunday ceremony on September 28 in Miami.

As reported by Baller Alert, the honors highlight the duo’s musical contributions, community involvement, and lasting influence in the industry, as well as their dedication to giving back to their city. What the honorary degrees specifically represent is not entirely clear, but the acknowledgement itself stands as a testament to their cultural impact.

Their connection to each other is a big part of their legacy. Trina’s early rise was supported by Trick Daddy through major collaborations in the 1990s like “Nann N***a,” “Take It To Da House,” and “Shut Up.” In turn, Trina gave Trick Daddy strong material to work with, and despite a few ups and downs over the years, the two have remained close. No matter how you frame it, their influence in Miami’s hip-hop scene has been undeniable, and this recognition feels well deserved.

Elsewhere, both artists continue to make headlines for reasons beyond their music. Trick Daddy recently stirred conversation with comments on The Nene Leakes Show about why he avoids dating women over 35. “I’m very wide — like, wide open, very whore-ish man,” the 51-year-old said. “With the exception of you and maybe two or three other women, right. I’m not attracted to no women over 35 years old. Y’all standards are too high, y’all are too emotional, y’all are damaged goods from y’all past relationships.”

Trina, on the other hand, faced backlash following her exchange with PETA. According to her, the organization sent her an aggressive letter ahead of her SeaWorld performance, criticizing the park’s treatment of animals.

Despite the ongoing drama in their personal and professional lives, this recognition stands as a meaningful reminder of their legacy. Honors like these offer a welcome celebration of their contributions and a chance to acknowledge the lasting mark they have left on Miami hip-hop.
