Charli XCX Unveils Alternate 'Music, Fashion, Film' Cover With Martin Scorsese, Marc Jacobs and John Cale

"i can't believe this image existssss," the singer wrote.

Fans were caught off guard when Charli xcx first revealed the artwork for her upcoming album Music, Fashion, Film, as the cover featured three influential figures instead of the singer herself. Now, she has introduced a special edition version that finally places her in the photo with the people who inspired the concept.

“the special edition cover of Music, Fashion, Film is available now,” Charli wrote on social media while sharing the updated artwork. “i can’t believe this image existssss xx.”

The alternate cover closely resembles the original artwork, showing John Cale, Marc Jacobs and Martin Scorsese standing together inside the same minimalist kitchen while looking directly at the camera. The biggest difference is that Charli now appears beside them, wearing black like the others and matching the photo’s understated, serious mood.

The three cultural icons on the original cover were chosen to symbolize the album’s title and its themes of music, fashion and film. Speaking with Nicky Reardon in June, Charli explained, “I’m not proclaiming by any means that these people are the trinity. They’re mine … there are a million different versions of this album cover, for me, as well.”

Charli previously collaborated with John Cale on “House,” a song from this year’s Wuthering Heights soundtrack album. Before the photo shoot, however, the legendary Velvet Underground musician had never met Marc Jacobs or Martin Scorsese. Recalling the experience in a recent Rolling Stone cover story about Charli, Cale said, “She said she had an idea to run by me. Next thing [I knew], I was on a flight. Ended up in a random kitchen.”

“I just feel really honored to know him,” Charli told the magazine. “It’s like, ‘What the f–k?’”

Music, Fashion, Film arrives on July 24 and marks Charli’s first studio album since the Grammy winning Brat, which reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 in 2024. A day before unveiling the special edition artwork, she also shared the album’s complete track list, confirming a collaboration with acclaimed filmmaker David Cronenberg.
