American pop musician and comedian, Alexandria Inez Fitzpatrick—otherwise known as Alli Fitz or AlliCattt—recently released a beachy new single just in time for warmer weather. The Los Angeles-based musician is well-known for her video content and excited to share her passion for music with fans everywhere.
“I’ve always been into music,” shares Alli. “My dad bought me a little keyboard and ukulele/guitars for Christmas. I also played the flute from elementary to my senior year of high school. Music has always been there.” In high school, pressured by friends to join the school musical, Alli fell in love with theatre. She went on to earn her college degree in theatre, too.
In 2008, Alli began posting her original content to YouTube--mostly cover songs performed in her bedroom—and went on to gain over 5 million followers for her Vine content years later, and another 7 million on TikTok!
“It got my foot in the door in terms of internet fame,” explains Alli, who knew her end goal was always to be a pop star. While she gained fans and views on Vine, Alli became known as the “comedy girl,” the one who made relatable content. Now, she wants the world to know how important music is to her. (Don’t worry—she’s still relatable.)
Among the many genres and artists that have influenced Alli Fitz’s style over the years, Alli lists Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, and Alessia Cara as top influencers. Her sound is a personal blend of pop, R&B, and rock. “I want to write music from the heart, not necessarily music that is made to sell well,” tells the artist. For Alli, music is more than entertainment—it’s a form of expression and a way to connect with listeners everywhere.
Her latest single, “When we’re together,” is a beachy song ready to ease us into summer. The flirty single is full of energy and love. The song is about being with the person you love and the feelings it inspires. “I want listeners to be able to send this song to the person they like, and they [the person] can listen to it and speak their feelings to them,” adds Alli, the budding matchmaker.
When it comes to creating music, Alli Fitz gets together with her team in the studio and talks concepts—what do they want to write about? This time, Alli chose to reflect on her new relationship. “Finally, I have something different to write about,” she jokes. “Instead of single empowerment girl pop music. I like this guy, but I’m still a baddie.” From there, Alli sifts through beats—sometimes pre-made by her producer, other times made on the spot—and lets the beat guide the lyrics.
While Alli Fitz may be famous for her comedy, her music is about to take the internet world by storm.
