Lady Gaga performs "Vanish Into You" during Colbert appearance

Fresh off her dazzling performance at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, Lady Gaga appeared as the musical guest on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on September 8. Dressed in a sleek black gown, she delivered a more intimate moment, seated at the piano with a pair of guitarists beside her. Together, they gave a stripped-back, ballad-style performance of Vanish Into You, a dance-pop track from her album Mayhem. Watch the performance below.

At the VMAs the night before, Gaga led the field with 12 nominations. She took home Artist of the Year, Best Collaboration for her Bruno Mars duet Die With a Smile, as well as Best Direction and Best Art Direction for Abracadabra. She ultimately lost Video of the Year to Ariana Grande’s Brighter Days Ahead. Gaga also graced the stage with two numbers, performing Abracadabra and The Dead Dance, her latest single tied to Netflix’s Wednesday.

Mayhem marks Gaga’s first album release in five years. She is currently touring the record with an elaborate gothic stage production, filling major arenas across North America. After wrapping up shows in Toronto and Chicago, she will take the tour overseas, bringing it to audiences in Europe and Australia through the end of the year.
