Duffy Set To Return To The Stage For Her First Concert In 15 Years

It is the latest taster of their upcoming album 'Splat!', out next month

Deep Purple have unveiled another preview of their upcoming album ‘Splat!’ with the release of the hard hitting new track ‘Diablo’. Listen below.

The iconic rock band are preparing to release the 24th studio album of their career on July 3 through earMUSIC. The record follows 2024’s ‘=1’, and fans can pre-order or pre-save it here.

After introducing the album with the explosive first single ‘Arrogant Boy’, the band have now returned with ‘Diablo’, a powerful and psychedelic track that finds them stretching out musically alongside special guest Keith Urban, who contributes guitar throughout the song.

The song is already available across streaming platforms, while the accompanying video is set to premiere on Sunday night (June 7) here. Listen here:

Speaking about the song, Ian Gillan explained: “It is all about taking chances. Just for once in your life, do something exciting, step out of the mould, take that curious bend in the road instead of sticking to the highway and do something that will, for the rest of your life, either guide or warn you.”

‘Splat!’ marks another collaboration between Deep Purple and renowned producer Bob Ezrin, known for his work with KISS, Pink Floyd, and Lou Reed. The album has been described as one of the band's heaviest releases in recent years, with the material recorded live in the studio.

According to Gillan, “where we are now with this incarnation of Deep Purple feels very much like a very ‘now’ version of Deep Purple as it was in the seventies.”

“I have to say, now we are very much back in with material that is compatible with ‘Highway Star’, ‘Smoke on the Water’, ‘Lazy’ – the dynamics, the balance, and the fun of the music we made from ‘69 to ‘73. Deep Purple is in a great place right now.”

‘Splat!’ will be available in several formats, including a deluxe 2LP gatefold 180g box set featuring a 12 page booklet, a CD digisleeve edition, three exclusive 10 inch vinyl discs containing live recordings from the band's 2024 tour, and a special 7 inch single that includes the bonus track ‘GUINNESIS’.

Deep Purple will also embark on an extensive 86 date world tour later this year. The schedule includes a major performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall on November 25. See the full list of dates here, while tickets are on sale now and can be found here (UK/Europe) and here (North America).

Last year, Gillan revealed that he had been experiencing serious vision loss and admitted that retirement may not be too far away. “It’s one of those things. I’ve only got 30 per cent vision,” he said. “That won’t get better. It makes life mysterious. The hardest thing is working on my laptop. I can’t see anything on the screen unless I use my peripheral vision – I pick up a line by looking at it sideways. But you find a way. You adapt.”
