While The Game's recent on-stage comments have nothing to do with Kendrick Lamar, some fans can't help but draw a connection.
The Game appeared alongside Kurupt, Kamaiyah, and several other artists during a free Los Angeles concert on Saturday night, August 8. The rapper looked like he was enjoying the performance, but he eventually paused to share an emotional statement with the audience. Although his words did not mention any particular person, some listeners connected them to the recent controversy surrounding fellow Compton artist Kendrick Lamar.
“L.A. be claiming nas lives,” the Compton MC remarked onstage, as caught by Cousin Tino on Twitter. “I got hella dead homies. I ain't got no grandparents left. My daddy dead, my mama sick. But I'm on stage. I'm from Westside, Cedar Block Bompton Piru. I represent L.A. I ain't gon' never turn my back on y'all. And I'm 100 percent sure when I die, nas gon' be where I'm from. On my mama. I don't give a f**k if it's today or ten years from now... It's Westside with me.”
His promise to remain loyal to Los Angeles arrived amid continued rumors involving The Game and Kendrick Lamar. Supporters have discussed a possible feud between them for years, with the conversation becoming louder during K.Dot’s battle against Drake. Game appeared to support Drizzy because of their history together, but he never directly attacked Kendrick or made especially negative statements about him. Most of his frustration has seemingly been aimed at the critics and listeners fueling the speculation.
The latest discussion partly began after Justin Hunte and Stat Quo addressed the situation on the 3rd Verse podcast. Stat shared several claims involving the Compton rappers, drawing from Top Dawg’s perspective and his own understanding of events. One allegation suggested that Game filming the “100” video with Drake in Compton contributed to a falling out.
The Game also appeared to take a subtle shot at Kendrick Lamar through an Instagram comment beneath a Poetik Flakko video criticizing Lamar over the controversy. Akademiks TV later shared the interaction on Twitter.
Despite everything being said, The Game’s dedication to Los Angeles has never seriously been questioned. However, he clearly has some local disagreements that still need attention, even if Kendrick Lamar is not directly involved.
