Liam Gallagher’s Beatles Claim Angers Fans

Liam Gallagher has stirred up a reaction from Liverpool locals and Beatles fans with another outspoken remark.

Oasis have long drawn inspiration from the Liverpool legends. Liam, the Britpop band’s 54 year old frontman, even named his son Lennon, 27, after the late John Lennon.

His loyalty to Manchester City, however, often brings out his competitive side, particularly when supporters of rivals Liverpool FC get involved.

In his latest post, Liam argued that Oasis "put The Beatles back on the map" while hitting back at Liverpudlians criticising his band and football club.

Taking to X, he wrote: "All these Scousers giving me and my band s, Oasis have done more for the city of Liverpool than they will ever do. Oasis put the Beatles back on the map which they no doubt directly profit from, ungrateful little sods MCFC LG x. (sic)"

The post quickly drew pushback, with one person commenting: "TBF Liam if it wasn’t for the Beatles you’d be working in Home Bargains.."

Someone else responded: "I like Oasis. However you’re not even a footnote compared to the Beatles."

It isn't the first time Liam has made a cheeky comparison with The Beatles. He previously suggested that his 2024 album with John Squire, titled after the two musicians, was “bigger” than Revolver, the Fab Four’s 1966 release featuring Eleanor Rigby and Yellow Submarine. During an exchange on X in 2023, he described it as “It’s the best record since" Revolver. After a follower labelled that a “big statement”, he replied: “What’s coming your way is bigger… I’m being humble, it p* all over it.”

Despite those boasts, Liam has also made his admiration for the group clear, once joking: "The Beatles could s* in my hand bag I'd still hide my polo mints in there."
